Students and faculty members from the Department of Exercise and Sports Sciences for People with Disabilities at the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Istanbul Gelişim University, achieved a significant success under the TÜBİTAK 2209/A University Student Research Projects Support Program.
The project, titled “Participation of People with Disabilities in Campus Life: An Interview-Based Study in the Context of Sustainability,” was awarded funding by TÜBİTAK.
Dr. Yunus Şahinler served as the project advisor, while Buruk Elmira Palabıyık acted as the researcher. The study examined the processes through which individuals with disabilities participate in campus life from a sustainability perspective, focusing on social participation, accessibility, and an inclusive university life.
The research aims to raise awareness regarding the experiences of individuals with disabilities in higher education institutions and to contribute to sustainable campus policies.
With its approach that supports scientific output and encourages students to engage in research processes, our faculty continues to add new achievements to its academic successes.
We congratulate our faculty advisor and student who contributed to the project and wish them continued success.
