Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) continues its academic growth with the restructuring of its School of Physical Education and Sports into the Faculty of Sports Sciences, effective as of August 2024. Originally established in 2013, the School has significantly contributed to the development of sports education and research at the University.

As part of this transformation, Prof. Dr. Kubilay Çimen has been appointed as the founding Dean of the newly established Faculty of Sports Sciences. A formal handover ceremony was held under the auspices of IGU Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin, marking the transition of leadership from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Soyal, the former Director of the School of Physical Education and Sports, to Prof. Dr. Kubilay Çimen.

During the ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin presented Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Soyal with a plaque of appreciation, acknowledging his distinguished service and dedication throughout his tenure. His leadership played a crucial role in advancing the academic quality and reputation of the School.
